HCM City (VNA) – The robust economic development and improved living standards have turned Vietnam into one of the most promising markets for food and beverage consumption in the region.

The information was heard at a ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City on March 22 to introduce the food and beverage ingredients exhibition in Vietnam (Fi Vietnam 2018).

Vietnam’s large population of around 93 million, half of which are under 30, is a key reason behind the strong surge in the food and beverage consumption. Furthermore, Vietnam is a tropical agricultural country with a diverse source of raw materials, many of which are important to the food and beverage industry.

UBM Asia (Thailand)’s Business Director Rungphech (Rose) Chitanuwat said that Fi Vietnam 2018, which will be jointly held by UBM Asia (Thailand) and the Food and Foodstuff Association of Ho Chi Minh City, will serve as a gateway for food and beverage companies looking to promote trade and invest in the Vietnamese market.

The exhibition will be held at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC) from May 16-18 and is expected to draw 140 exhibitors and over 4,700 experts from ASEAN countries.

On display will be baby food and infant formula, bakery products, beverages, confectionary and snack food, convenience food and ready meals, dairy food and ice cream, emulsifiers and fruit and vegetable products, among others.

Forums, international conferences and seminars held in the framework of the event will help regional enterprises deepen and get updated with the latest food and beverage knowledge.-VNA
