Two businessmen of the Republic of Korea (RoK) have been appointed as honourable consuls of Vietnam to their country.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Pham Tien Van, on behalf of the Vietnamese government, handed over consular credentials to Park Soo Kwan, honourable consul to Pusan city and Kyongnam province, and Koo Cha-Yol, honourable consul to Incheon city and Kyonggi province.

Speaking at a ceremony in Seoul on Jan. 15, Ambassador Van said that the appointment in the Vietnamese government’ recognition of the two honourable consuls’ contributions to the Vietnam-RoK cooperative ties over the past years.

He expressed his belief in the newly accredited consuls’ more contributions to strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two countries, particularly to promoting exchange and cooperation in economy, culture, education and assistance for the Vietnamese community in the RoK.

Park Soo Kwan and Koo Cha-Yol expressed their thanks for the Vietnamese government and foreign ministry’s trust and said they would spare no effort to bolster the two countries’ friendship.

They pledged to continue their contributions to Vietnam ’s economic development through existing projects and expanded investment in the Southeast Asian nation.

The two consuls are prestigious businessmen and active activists in the RoK. Park Soo Kwan is Chairman of the Y.C Tec Corporation in Vietnam ’s southern provinces of Binh Duong and Dong Nai, while Koo Cha-Yol is Chairman of the LS-VINA Company in the northern port city of Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City .

Vietnam and the RoK saw new steps of development since the two countries upgraded the bilateral ties to strategic cooperative partnership.

The number of Vietnamese people working and living in the RoK has been increasing, especially in Pusan , Kyongnam, Incheon and Kyonggi./.
