Vietnam’s National Day celebrated abroad

In Singapore, the event saw the presence of Singaporean Minister of Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang and a number of members of the Singaporean Parliament along with representatives of diplomatic delegations, businesses and the Vietnamese community.

Addressing the reception, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Trung Thanh reviewed the development of Vietnam, especially great achievements made during the renewal process and the country’s increasingly important position in the region as well as in the international arena.

The Vietnamese Ambassador took the occasion to convey the aim of Vietnam as the ASEAN Chair to continue to actively take responsibility for regional and international issues, contributing to build a close-knit and dynamic ASEAN by 2015.

For his part, Minister Lim Hng Kiang extended his congratulations on Vietnam’s achievements in development and integration, saying Vietnam is one of the most dynamic economies in the region.

He spoke highly of the development in bilateral relations between the two countries, considering the Singapore visit by State President Nguyen Minh Triet in 2009 and the official visit to Vietnam by Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong early this year important landmarks to deepen the two nations’ ties.

The Singaporean minister applauded Vietnam’s contributions to ASEAN as the bloc’s chair.

On the same day, the Vietnamese Consulate General in India organised a function in Mumbai city to mark National Day with the participation of the representative of Maharastra state Sumit Mullick and nearly 200 guests.

National Day celebrations were also held in Bulgaria, Ukraine, Denmark and Holland./.
