Buenos
Aires (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Argentina on September 5 organised
a ceremony in Buenos Aires to mark the 74th National Day (September 2, 1945 -
2019).
The ceremony drew
Gustavo Zlauvinen, Deputy Foreign Minister of Argentina, and 200 guests
including local officials and representatives of diplomatic corps as well as
international friends and Vietnamese people in Argentina.
Addressing the event,
Ambassador Dang Xuan Dung affirmed that Vietnam and Argentina have made great
progress in many fields. In particular, the State-level visit to Vietnam by
President Mauricio Macri in February is considered as the most important
highlight.
The Ambassador said
that two-way trade between the two countries doubled from 1.4 billion USD in
2013 to nearly 3 billion USD in 2018, maintaining Argentina’s position as
Vietnam's second largest trading partner in Latin America. At the same time,
Vietnam is Argentina's second most important market in Asia and the fifth in
Argentina's global export markets.
The diplomat expressed
his wish that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to maintain the
delegation exchange at the governmental, ministerial, sectoral, local and
business levels to concretise the comprehensive partnership between the two
countries.
For his part,
Argentinian Deputy Foreign Minister Gustavo Zlauvinen congratulated Vietnam
on the occasion of the 74th National Day, and expressed his admiration for
socio-economic achievements that Vietnam has achieved in the current period
of national construction and economic development.
He said that
Argentina was one of the first countries in Latin America to establish
diplomatic relations with Vietnam and, over the past four decades, the
relationship has been increasingly strengthened and developed, helping the
two countries become important partners of each other
in the current period.-VNA
