A seminar was held by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with thePeoples (ICAP) on April 24 in Havana, Cuba to mark Vietnam’s Southernliberation and national reunification anniversary (April 30, 1975).
Addressing the event, Vice President of theCuba-Vietnam Friendship Association Martha Rojas, who is a former warcorrespondent in Vietnam, recounted the hardship, yet heroic spiritduring the resistance wars in Vietnam, expressing her admiration forPresident Ho Chi Minh and other revolutionary leaders.
She highlighted the establishment of the Cuban Committee ofSolidarity with the South of Vietnam as a symbol of the faithfulfriendship between the two nations, as well as the great historicalsignificance of the April 30 victory to Vietnam and the world.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Duong Minh affirmed that the victoryturned a new page in the history of Vietnam, creating opportunities fordevelopment and peace.
He also briefed theaudience on the achievements Vietnam has made during nearly 30 yearscarrying out renovation, and at the same time reiterated theever-lasting friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba.
Two documentary films were screened during the event.
“Thang Tu nam Mao tai Vietnam” (April in the Year of the Catin Vietnam) features the war time in Vietnam while “Chao mung toiVietnam” (Welcome to Vietnam) introduces a peaceful, independent, anddeveloping Vietnam.-VNA
