Vietnam has so far this year earned 1.022 billion USD from export of 136,000 tonnes of pepper, adding the agricultural product into the country’s list of exported commodities worth one billion USD and over for the first time.

According to the Vietnam Pepper Association, as of mid-September pepper exports increased nearly 4,000 tonnes and 100 million USD from the whole last year.

Vietnamese pepper accounts for 30 percent and 50 percent of the world’s total production and exports, respectively.

Vietnam’s biggest pepper importers are the United States, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands and India.-VNA
