The fifth annual show of Vietnam’s traditional music and martial arts entitled “Mother and Sea” took place in the French city of Orsay on November 11.

Held by the Vietnamese – Orsay Traditional Cultural and Music Association (OCTAVE), the event attracted hundreds of overseas Vietnamese and French participants.

Participants enjoyed performances of traditional musical instruments, such as 16-chord zither, monochord, two-stringed fiddle and bamboo flute, as well as martial arts involving swords, sticks, clubs and knives.

An exhibition featuring Vietnam and its people was also held.

Established in 2007, OCTAVE offers Vietnamese language, music and cooking classes to foreigners to fund scholarships for poor students at Loc Ninh secondary school and Quang Binh university in the central region.-VNA
