Vietnams win first gold in 2018 Asian Indoor Athletics Champs

Hanoi (VNA) -
Athlete Vu Thi Ngoc Ha of Vietnam on June 7 won a gold medal in the triple jump at the 2018 Asian Indoor Athletics Championship, being held in Gifu city, Japan.

She set the record of 13,22m, out jumping China’s best hope Pan Youqui by approximately one centimetre.

Despite Pan’s continued violations, Ha kept her nerve and beat the opponent with her massive jump.

Competeting in this year’s championships, the Vietnamese team sent seven athletes, including Cao Vo Ngoc Long in men’s high jump event, Vu Thi Ngoc Ha in triple jump, Nguyen Van Chau in 200m and 400m, Nguyen Trung Cuong in 1500m and 3000m steeplechase, Pham Thi Thuy Hanh in 1500m, Huynh Thi My Tien in 100m hurdling and Nguyen Lan Anh in high jump and women’s medley.

In men’s steeplechase, Cuong passed the qualifying round in the time of 4:00.37.-VNA
