The Military Telecom Corporation (Viettel) said May 29 that it has completed installation of a broadband network connecting educational institutions in the city.

The completion of the network, which started in November 2008, helps connect 1,380 schools, colleges, universities, vocational schools and other educational facilities across the city to serve teaching, studying, scientific research as well as management.

Viettel has provided free moderns, installation and connection service for all schools except for colleges and universities, which are getting discounts of 70 percent in monthly Internet usage cost.

The company says it will continue to expand the free broadband connection service to all high school students and teachers in the city.

The network is part of a broader project for which Viettel is cooperating with the Ministry of Education and Training to link about 40,000 schools, colleges, universities, vocational schools and other educational facilities nationwide./.
