Hanoi (VNA) – The northern province of Vinh Phuc is among three localities rated level A in cyber information security assessment for 2019 made by the Authority of Information Security (AIS), Ministry of Information and Communications.

The ratings were announced recently, covering 63 provinces and centrally-run cities, and 26 ministries, ministerial-level agencies and Governmental agencies (except  the ministries of public security, defence and information and communications).

Vinh Phuc, along with the central city of Da Nang and the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, are rated level A, while the State Bank of Vietnam is the only agency to achieve the A level.

The good performance of Vinh Phuc is attributable to the provincial administration’s attention to investment in IT security and IT equipment.

All State management units from communal level upwards have been equipped with the LAN networks, and connected to the internet via optical fibre cables.  The provincial Department of Information and Communication has effectively carried out solutions to ensure security for the database and applications of the province. It has also organized regular training courses on information technology and cyber security for employees of State agencies and district-level People’s Committees.

The department has routinely conducted review of users’ accounts to detect weak passwords, provided quick assistance to other units in cases of cyber incidents, and timely fixed security loopholes for servers of local agencies.

The AIS said that it rated the cyber information security level based on five indexes namely the basic information security index based on assessment results from data of agencies; information security index of the websites and information portals; malware infection index; information leakage index; and monitoring information sharing index./.
