The Vietnam Football Federation has officially announced the lists of the national and Olympic football squads for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers and 2012 London Olympics.

The federation also appointed coaches Mai Duc Chung and Phan Thanh Hung to take interim charge of the national and Olympic men's football teams, respectively.

The teams will attend a two-week training session at HCM City 's Thanh Long Sports Centre from June 13 to July 4.

Federation Vice Chairman Nguyen Lan Trung said Chung and Hung would take up the posts which had been vacant since March following the departure of Portuguese coach Henrique Calisto.

Trung said the federation had been negotiating with a German coach to take charge of the national team later this month.

Young players dominated the national and Olympic teams during the first training session of the year.

The 25-member national team includes 10 under-23 players while the Olympic team has 10 players aged 20-21.

"We wanted a face-lift for both teams. We hope that young players will give an exciting performance in the World Cup qualifiers and Olympics qualifying round," said federation vice chairman Pham Ngoc Vien.

National coach Chung told reporters at a press briefing on June 1, "We recruited the best players, including striker Le Cong Vinh, goalie Duong Hong Son and maestro Pham Thanh Luong. The coaching board also named some youngsters who will debut at the World Cup qualifiers."

As scheduled, the national team will play Macao in a two-leg knock-out match during the first stages of the World Cup Asian Zone qualifiers on June 29 and July 3.

Meanwhile, the Olympic team will meet Arab Saudi in the first leg away on June 19 and the second leg in Hanoi on June 23.
