The gold medals belonged toNguyen Anh Khoa in the men’s U-8 category, Vu Thi Dieu Ai in the women’sU-12 and Nguyen Thi Mai Hung in the women’s U-16.
Meanwhile, the only bronze medal went to Hoang Thi Nhu Y in the women’sU-18 category.
The tournament, which opened inJuly 9, drew the participation of 428 chess players from 20 countries,including India , Iran and Mongolia . The players competed in suchcategories as U-8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 for both men’s and women’sevents.
The Chinese, Iranian and Mongolian teamsalso pocketed three gold individual medals each.
At the Asian Junior Chess Championships 2009, besides two goldindividual medals snatched by Hoang Thi Nhu Y in the women’s U-16 andPham Thanh Phuong Thao in the women’s U-10, Vietnam bagged onesilver and one bronze individual medals as well as one gold, two silverand one bronze team medals./.
