Vietnam has discussed measures to boost its bilateral trade and economic relations with Argentine, Chile and the US.

The discussions were held during the 12-day visit to the three countries by the National Committee for International Economic Cooperation delegation, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Doan Xuan Hung, that ended on March 31.

During their stay in Argentina and Chile, the Vietnamese delegation discussed with the two countries’ deputy foreign ministers and scholars about international economic integration, involvement in the World Trade Organisation and the negotiation of free trade agreements (FTA).

In the US, the delegation met with the Assistant Secretary of State, the Assistant Secretary of Commerce, the Director for Asian Economic Affairs at the National Security Council, a number of Democratic and Republican Senators and Representatives and the US Chamber of Commerce.

The Vietnamese delegates laid stress on the comprehensive and active international integration policy which they said is in line with the 11th National Party Congress’ Resolution.

Vietnam will actively participate in the Doha round of negotiations and regional bilateral and multilateral trade and economic cooperation mechanisms, including the FTA with Chile and the Trans-Pacific Partnership, they said.

The host countries welcomed Vietnam’s renewal achievements and its international integration policy. They agreed to accelerate all-around cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in raising bilateral trade value and supporting Vietnam in multilateral economic cooperation mechanisms.

Argentina and Chile shared their experiences with Vietnam’s delegation in organising the management apparatus for international economic integration.

Argentina agreed to soon devise an action programme to implement a memorandum of understanding between the two foreign ministries on economic diplomacy and international economic integration./.
