VN, Cambodia agree to high-level contacts

President Nguyen Minh Triet and Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni have agreed the two countries should maintain high-level contacts to promote and facilitate bilateral multi-sided cooperation expansion.

Theyreached the consensus at their meeting in Phnom Penh on August 27during the current State visit to Cambodia by President Nguyen MinhTriet.

They welcomed efforts by both governments in implementing bilateral cooperation agreements.

KingNorodom Sihamoni welcomed the current visit to Cambodia byPresident Triet, saying he believed it would be a historical event,create a strong dynamic to promote the two countries’ traditionalfriendship and comprehensive cooperation for prosperity of each nation.

TheKing expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese leaders’ and people’ssupport and valuable assistance for the Cambodian people in the past, aswell as the present national restoration and development.

TheVietnamese people are always the Cambodian people’s good neighbour, andthe Cambodian stands shoulder to shoulder with the Vietnamese people, heaffirmed.

King Norodom Sihamoni also pledged to continuefostering the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperationbetween the two countries.

He expressed the wish that theVietnamese people under the leadership of the Vietnamese Party and Statewould continue to obtain even greater achievements in their nationalconstruction and development.

President Triet hailed achievementsrecorded by the Cambodian fraternal people under the reign of KingNorodom Sihamoni in the national construction and development.

Hespoke highly of Cambodia ’s increasing position and prestige in theregion and in the world and wished the Cambodian people moreachievements in the future in order to successfully build the Kingdomof Cambodia in peace and prosperous development.
President Triet also thanked the King, the government and people ofCambodia for their due attention to and for facilitating the Vietnamesecommunity to live, work and study in Cambodia , thus contributing toCambodia ’s development and fostering the friendship of the twonations.

He affirmed Vietnam ’s consistent policy of attachingimportance and sparing no effort to foster the Vietnam-Cambodiatraditional friendship and cooperation.

Earlier in the morning,President Triet laid wreaths at the Independence Monument and themonument commemorating Vietnamese voluntary soldiers who sacrificedtheir lives in Cambodia .

He also attended a ceremony to inaugurate the Radio the Voice of Vietnam Bureau in the capital city./.
