VN, Cambodia continue search for soldiers’ remains

Vietnam and Cambodia plan to search for and repatriate about 1,350 sets of remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts, who died in Cambodia during the past wars, in the dry season of 2011-2012.

Thisis the content of the 10 th agreement signed between the specialcommittees of the Vietnamese and Cambodian governments on Oct. 26 in thesouthern city of Can Tho .

Implementing the 9 th agreementof this kind between the two governments, the two sides found andrepatriated 1,758 sets of Vietnamese martyrs in Cambodia in the2009-2010 and the 2010-2011 dry seasons.

There are still 6,000 Vietnamese fallen soldiers burried in Cambodia , of which some 2,300 tombs have been located./.

Excavation for war remains begins in Quang Ngai

Y Ngoc, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee and head of the provincial Steering Committee for the search, recovery and identification of martyrs’ remains, said the mission aims to conduct definitive excavation and verification to bring home the remains of martyrs from Regiment 24A, the B3 Front, Special Forces Battalion 406, and Infantry Battalion 304, who fell during the 1968 Tet Offensive.
