The southern province of Kien Giang and the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh have signed an agreement to forge cooperation in economics, culture, health, crime prevention and other fields.

Part of the comprehensive cooperation programme agreed to by the two governments, the agreement aims to contribute to deepening Vietnam-Cambodia friendship and cooperation.

Under the document, the two sides will promote comprehensive cooperation in the fields of trade, tourism, agriculture, aquaculture, construction, public transport, science and technology and post and telecoms.

The two localities will encourage enterprises and investors to set up trade centres, supermarkets and representative offices in both countries and border areas.

They will establish favourable conditions for their tourism sectors to develop and organise exchanges and get-togethers to learn about the customs and traditional culture of each country.

Kien Giang province and Phnom Penh will also facilitate activities of the two sides’ health sectors and mutually support professional training and charitable works in this field.

The localities will also strengthen cooperation in crime prevention, including transnational crime, in accordance with the two countries’ laws.-VNA
