Vietnam ranked third with seven golds, three silvers, four bronzes and 11 certificates of outstanding skill at the 8th ASEAN Skills Competition that took place in Bangkok, Thailand from Nov. 14-24.

Thailand finished in the first place with 15 gold medals, and it was followed by Indonesia, with eight golds.

This year, 36 Vietnamese contestants competed in 18 out of 21 events in five vocational categories including industry, mechanics, construction, service, and electrics and electronics.

The 8 th ASEAN Skills Competition attracted 222 contestants from vocational training schools of 10 ASEAN member countries.

Taking part in the biennial event in 2001 for the first time, Vietnam ranked first among participating teams at the 2004 and 2006 events. It came second at the 2002 competition and ranked fourth in 2001 and 2008./.
