Vietnam and Cuba will further scientific and technological cooperation and look to team up in agricultural development.

These were signaled during a visit to Cuba by Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Van Lang, who also acts as Head of the Managing Board of Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park.

Lang held a working session with Cuban Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Environment Lina Rodriguez in Havana on Feb. 25.

They exchanged experiences in building, developing and managing hi-tech parks.

They also dealt with the application of research conducted by these parks in production and daily life.

The same day, Lang held talks with representatives of the Cuban Ministry of Agriculture on orientations for cooperation in agricultural development and the farming of industrial crops of high economic values, like cashews, tea, coffee and cacao.

The two sides reached a deal that Vietnam will continue to help Cuba expand the cashew-growing area.

Both also discussed possibilities for partnership in producing plant varieties.

While in Cuba , the Vietnamese officials made a fact-finding tour of the Pharmaceutical Biological Labratories (Labiofam)./.
