The visiting delegation from Danish Parliament led by its President Mogens Lykketoft held a meeting on Mar. 3 with a delegation from various Committees of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) in Hanoi.

Addressing the event, Chairman of the NA Committee for External Relations and also leader of the Vietnamese delegation, Tran Van Hang, spoke highly of the Danish delegation’s visit, saying that it will significantly contribute to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between both countries, opening new prospects in mutual relations and interregional and international cooperation as well.

Hang emphasised the increasingly strong ties between Vietnam and the European Union (EU), which have been developed through meetings and exchanges aiming to deepen mutual understanding. He expressed his belief that Denmark will continue to act as a bridge between EU and Vietnam and other ASEAN members.

Hang affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to parliamentary diplomacy, an important channel allowing parties to frankly discuss issues of mutual interest.

The two sides exchanged briefings on the structure and functions of each nation’s legislative body, while discussing issues of common concern. They reached consensus on sharing experience and finding measures to boost Vietnam-EU relations as well as to fulfil socio-economic development targets and curb inflation in Vietnam .

On the same day, the Danish delegation laid a wreath at Uncle Ho’s Mausoleum and visited President Ho Chi Minh’s workplace and residence.-VNA
