Vietnam and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) have agreed to further the friendship between their trade unions.

The agreement was reached during talks between the Permanent Vice President of Vietnam ’s General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) Nguyen Hoa Binh and the Vice President of the General Federation of Trade Union of Korea (GFTUK), Han U Phal, in Hanoi on July 2.

They agreed to boost cooperation in research and training as well as exchanging information and personnel.

During their talks, Binh stressed that along with the time-honoured Vietnam-DPRK friendship, cooperation between the VGCL and the GFTUK has been continuously maintained and developed.

He said that Vietnam ’s workforce now numbers 46.6 million, including more than 13 million in paid employment. Trade union members in the country now number over 7.5 million.

The GFTUK official praised the achievements that Vietnam has recorded on the path to building a socialist State during the process of industrialisation and modernisation.

He added that the DPRK will continue to foster its traditional friendship and solidarity with Vietnam.-VNA
