VN, India step up quarantine cooperation

Vietnam and India have agreed to strengthen quarantine regulations on plants including conducting joint quarantines for agricultural products and animal feed in the near future.

The agreementwas signed at a meeting between Nguyen Xuan Hong, Head of the PlantProtection Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and RuralDevelopment and Sarvesh Rai, Director of the Agriculture and CooperationDepartment under the Indian Ministry of Agriculture.

At the meeting, India also pledged to strengthen quarantine measures toaddress the amount of goods being shipped to Vietnam that do not meetthe country’s necessary quarantine requirements.

Both parties also reached a consensus on issues over India’s continuedfailure to meet regulations last year and discussed a report onpest-infected corn, millet, wheat and soy beans imported from India./.

Malaria cases in Vietnam down 20% in 2024

According to Dr. Hoang Dinh Canh, Director of the Central Institute of Malaria, Parasitology, and Entomology, from 2014 to 2024, the number of malaria cases and deaths has gradually declined year on year, with a decrease of 97.76% from 15,752 cases to 353 cases per year.
