The Prime Minister has given the go-ahead to the Ministry of Health’s proposal to allow Vietnam to become an official member of the Partners in Population and Development (PPD).

According to the Official Document No 1737/TTg-QHQT, the Prime Minister has assigned the General Department of Population and Family Planning under the Ministry of Health to mediate the participation of Vietnam and the country’s implementation of all obligations and interests set by the PPD for the organisation’s members.

PPD was established in 1994 and it now has 24 official members. The PPD is focusing its assistance on increasing reproductive health, gender equality and the coupling of reproductive health to HIV/AIDS prevention and control, giving priority to the economically disadvantaged./.
