Hanoi (VNA)
– Leaders of the General Staff of the People’s Army of Vietnam and Laos have stressed the strengthening of coordination in preventing and combating hostile sabotage plots to undermine the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos and the respective countries’ nation-building cause.

The agreement was reached during the talks in Hanoi on March 20 between Sen. Lieut. Gen. Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defence Minister and Sen. Lieut. Gen. Suvon Luongbunmi, Chief of the General Staff of the Laos People’s Army and Deputy Defence Minister.

The talks took place at a time when the two countries have freshly finished many activities marking the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty and the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2017.

They noted that the two countries’ defence ties have been deepened, as evidenced by the latest official visit to Laos by Defence Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich in January, 2018.

While discussing regional and international issues of shared concern, they underscored the need to increase the special solidarity and friendship as well as mutual coordination to contribute to firmly defending the respective countries and tightening their comprehensive cooperation and special ties.-VNA
