The second judicial conference between border provinces of Vietnam and Laos was held in Vientiane on July 29, in the presence of Vietnamese Justice Minister Ha Hung Cuong and his Lao counterpart Chaluern Ziapaoher.

At the event, both sides spoke highly of the traditional special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples, describing it as a firm foundation for bilateral judicial connections.

Since the first conference was organised in June 2011, the two ministries and localities sharing the border have actively carried out many cooperation activities, particularly in nationality and civil status management and civil verdict execution.

Both sides agreed that in the time to come, they will work closely with relevant agencies to effectively implement an agreement on solving issues related to illegal migration and illegitimate marriage signed between the two governments on July 8, 2013.

The two ministries will consider the establishment of a working group to inspect the implementation of a judicial assistance agreement on civil and criminal cases signed on July 6, 1998.

They will also speed up the implementation of their 2011-2015 cooperation agreement, and work towards another for 2016-2020.-VNA
