Vietnam’s northern Dien Bien province and Lao province of Luang Prabang on Jan. 10 inaugurated border marker No. 144, and completed upgrade of 28 others along the borderline.
Hoang Van Nhan, Deputy Chairman of provincial Dien Bien People’s Committee, said that the new border marker will serve as a legal basis for the two countries and peoples to define national sovereignty and territory, making a foundation for the long-term socio-economic development in each country’s border area.
Khamdua Yiakuanorher-vang, Deputy Secretary of provincial Luang Prabang Party Committee said that the border marker inauguration manifests friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, contributing to strengthening and promoting mutual understanding between the two Parties, Governments and peoples./.
