Vietnam took the lead among ASEAN teams at their table tennis tournament in Washington , which was held for the first time on July 30.
The Vietnamese players competed and won victories in all categories of the tourney, including men’s and women's singles, men’s doubles, and mixed events.
The team from the Singaporean Embassy in the US, which hosted this year's tournament, was placed second.
Singaporean Ambassador to the US , Chan Heng Chee, said the tournament will be held annually, along with other sports events, in order to strengthen the friendship among ASEAN member countries.
ASEAN, or the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam./.
