Vietnam and Mexico have agreed to step up cooperation in the management and planning of land, water resources, afforestation and environmental protection.

Vietnam ’s Deputy Minister of the Environment and Natural Resources, Tran Hong Ha and his Mexican counterpart, Fernando Tudela, reached a consensus on the issue during their December 8 meeting on the sidelines of the UN Climate Change Conference, held in Mexico ’s southeastern coastal city of Cancun .

Both deputy ministers spoke highly of the potential for cooperation in managing natural resources and protecting the environment between the two countries.

They agreed that bilateral cooperation in this field would contribute to international efforts to protect the environment and mitigate the adverse impacts of global climate changes.

He invited the Mexican official to visit Vietnam so both ministries could consider signing an agreement./.
