VN sends congratulations on victory over fascism

President Nguyen Minh Triet on May 9 sent a massage of congratulations to his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of victory over fascism.

In the letter, the Vietnamese state leader wrote: “May 9 stands in the mankind’s history with the great victory of the Red Army and the people of the former Soviet Union, which saved people from the fascist disaster, ended the World War II and brought a peaceful life to many nations.”

As a nation, which suffered many losses in wars, the Vietnamese people shared great sacrifice that the Russian people and nations of the former Soviet Union experienced during their national defence to obtain the victory, he said.

“Together with people all over the world to celebrate the victory over fascism, Vietnam is proud to be on the same side with the people of the former Soviet Union and democratic and progressive forces in the struggle against fascism for peace of the mankind,” the message said.

With strength from the great victory of the people of the former Soviet Union, the Vietnamese people triumphed with the August Revolution in 1945, founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, marking a new glorious history of Vietnam .

History linked the two nations of Vietnam and Russia , the Vietnamese President stated. Over the past 60 years, Vietnam and the former Soviet Union and the Russian Federation at present, have built up a fine friendship and multifaceted cooperation. Nowadays, Vietnam and Russia are strategic partners and together deepening bilateral relations for the benefits of the two people and for peace, stability and development in the world.

President Triet expressed his belief that Russia would always gain successes in the construction and development of a strong country with remarkable international position.

The same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem also sent a message of congratulations to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov./.
