A delegation of war veterans from the Transport Regiment 410 of Vietnam’s High Command 959 is visiting old battlefields in Laos , where they had fought during the war.

The visit, from July 3-12, was made to mark the 34 th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty (July 18, 1977-2011) and the 64 th anniversary of Vietnam ’s Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day (July 27, 1947-2011).

During the visit, the delegation had an exchange with the Lao Veterans’ Association on July 6. The association’s Vice Chairman, Sivan Utthachac, said he was pleased to receive Vietnamese voluntary soldiers, who had stood side by side with the Lao people in the transport front, providing food and weapons for the Lao battlefields.

The Pathet Lao soldiers and Lao people always keep in mind the Vietnamese volunteers’ merit and commit themselves to maintain the development of the Laos-Vietnam relationship, he said.

On behalf of the Vietnamese veterans, Colonel Pham Trong Thi said the Vietnamese veterans would never forget the pure and faithful love between Vietnam and Laos and would do their utmost to help future generations understand more about this special relationship, helping foster the friendship and solidarity between the two nations.

The Vietnamese veterans also had an impressive exchange with the Xieng Khoang Club of Fellow-Countrymen.

They will visit old battlefields in Savannakhet, Khammouan and Bolikhamsay provinces where they served during the war./.
