Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam hopes Canada’s Transportation Vision Group (VTG) will launch more transport infrastructure projects in the country, including the construction of the North-South high-speed railway, said Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung.

Dung told Chairman and CEO of the VTG Richard Courey at a meeting in Hanoi on November 22 that the Vietnamese Government welcomes and values determination of potential and experienced international partners to join infrastructure projects in the country.

Lauding the VTG’s experience in infrastructure development, he said that Vietnam is mobilising social resources for investment in infrastructure serving socio-economic development.

The Vietnamese Government is improving its investment and business environment, completing institutions and creating favourable conditions for foreign and domestic businesses to expand investment, he added.

For his part, Richard Courey noted that the VTG has proposed Hanoi and the Vietnamese Government, ministries and agencies launch the urban railway project No.2 that connects the Noi Bai International Airport and the West Lake in the form of Public Private Partnership.

He showed confidence that his firm is competent in successfully implementing the project.

Deputy PM Dung suggested the VTG work in detail with Hanoi and relevant ministries and agencies before submitting a thorough report to the Government.-VNA
