Vietnamese Karateka Nguyen Thanh Duy was awarded a bronze medal on October 3 at the Asian Games in the Republic of Korea.
This is the only medal the Vietnamese team won on the last day of ASIAD 17.
The 21-year-old athlete did well in his martial arts performance and defeated rivals from Thailand, Brunei and Hong Kong (China) before beating Darkhan Assadilov from Kazakhstan 7-1 in the men’s kumite category, securing a bronze medal.
Later, in the women’s U-55kg category, Tran Hoang Yen Phuong lost 0:8 to Alagasan Nisha from Malaysia due to an injury.
As of 16:00 on October 3, Vietnam won 36 medals at ASIAD 17, including one gold, ten silver and 25 bronze medals, ranking 21 st on the medal totally.-VNA
