The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) has hosted a wide range of activities to commemorate fallen soldiers and journalist martyrs on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).

The VNA leaders have organised 14 delegations to visit martyrs’ cemeteries nationwide and present gifts to families of fallen soldiers and invalids, especially those serving the agency.

They have also offered incense at the agency’s memorial to journalist martyrs at its headquarters in Hanoi.

In addition, representatives from VNA bureaus across the country have carried out many practical activities to pay tribute to fallen and wounded soldiers.

Throughout the country’s two resistance wars, more than 260 VNA reporters laid down their lives when performing their tasks, while 30 others were wounded.

Such activities will help the agency’s young generation better understanding about their predecessors’ great contributions to the national defence and construction as well as the development of the national news agency over the last 69 years.

The VNA runs a network of correspondents in all 63 provinces and cities nationwide as well as 30 overseas bureaus.

It was awarded the titles of “Labour Hero in the Renewal Process” and “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” for its great contributions to the nation.-VNA
