Binh Duong (VNA) – The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and the southern province of Binh Duong have signed a cooperation deal in popularising the Party and State’s policies and law and promoting the image, potential and socio-economic achievements of the locality to people and investors in and outside the country.

The agreement was inked on June 7 in Binh Duong by VNA General Director Nguyen Duc Loi and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Thanh Liem.

The two sides agreed that from now to 2022, the two sides will exchange information and strengthen the introduction of VNA’s publications, aiming to popularise Binh Duong in all fields, including politics, economics, society and culture.

Particularly, the two sides will coordinate in enhancing communications on outcomes of the implementation of resolutions of the Party Central Committee and the provincial Party Committee’s 10th congress, as well as major achievements in the local socio-economic development, especially bright spots in poverty reduction, industrial growth, high-tech agriculture, FDI attraction and social welfare.

Addressing the signing ceremony, VNA General Director Nguyen Duc Loi said that through the partnership, the VNA will give a considerable space in its publications to introduce to domestic and foreign audiences with Binh Duong’s image and strengths.

With its advantage as the national news agency, the VNA will run official news and reject wrongful information, thus supporting the management and governance of Binh Duong.

Meanwhile, Tran Thanh Liem recognised the contribution of the media, including the VNA, in Binh Duong’s development.

He expressed his belief that the agreement will contribute to bringing policies, image and development attainments of the province to a broader community, especially the overseas Vietnamese and business community.

Binh Duong is now home to almost 26,600 domestic businesses with a combined registered capital of 198 trillion VND (8.72 billion USD) and 1,890 FDI enterprises with a total registered investment of 27.1 billion USD).

It recorded an annual average increase of 2.3 percent in the number of visitors to the locality from 2011-2015.

The locality served 4.39 million holiday-makers in 2016, up 4.5 percent against the previous year. It raked in 1.2 trillion VND (52.8 million USD) from tourism activities, a year-on-year increase of 7 percent.

The Government-run VNA is the media agency with the largest number of products and forms in Vietnam with more than 60 media products: bulletins, photos, dailies, weeklies, monthlies, magazines, pictorials, books, a TV channel, infographics, audio programmes, e-newspapers, and information programmes on mobile platforms and social networks. The agency also delivers news in the largest number of languages.

The VNA maintains bilateral and multilateral partnerships with more than 40 international media organisations. It is a member of the OANA, the Non-Aligned News Agencies Pool (NANAP), and the ASEAN News Exchange (ANEX).-VNA
