General Director of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) Nguyen Duc Loi and officials of the northern port city of Hai Phong and the Vietnam People’s Navy agreed to strengthen their ties in the communication work during separate sessions on August 6.

At the events in Hai Phong, Loi introduced the structure and functions of the VNA, which is the only press agency in Vietnam with its presence covering across the country’s 63 provinces and cities as well as all five continents in the world.

The State-run organisation has become a trustworthy information purveyor in the region and is heading towards the status of a multi-media group, he said.

Secretary of the Hai Phong Party’s Committee Nguyen Van Thanh informed his guest on local socio-economic development, noting that the locality is striving to become a green, civilised and modern port city by 2020.

Highlighting their cooperation potential, the two sides agreed to foster their all-embracing partnership in order to update Vietnamese and international readers about Hai Phong city.

At the meeting with naval officers, the VNA leader affirmed that his agency always stands side by side with the military and the navy.

Loi and Rear Admiral Dinh Gia That underlined the need for more effective collaboration in the communication work to promote patriotism and the national pride in Vietnamese people.

On this occasion, the General Director presented financial support donated by VNA staff and the Vietnamese community in Taiwan (China) to the navy.- VNA
