Hanoi (VNA) – Nguyen Tuan Hung, Deputy Director-General of the State-run Vietnam News Agency (VNA) has become a member of the National Committee for AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Fight.

Under Decision No. 2267/QD-TTg signed by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Hung replaces Nguyen Hoai Duong who is a former Deputy Director-General of the VNA.

The National Committee for AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Fight is an inter-sectoral agency tasked to assist the Prime Minister in directing and co-ordinating the prevention of AIDS, drug abuse and prostitution.

It supports the PM in directing the building of strategies, policies, programmes and plans on the prevention and control of AIDS, drug crime and prostitution as well as supervising the implementation of the schemes and policies.

The committee also helps the PM direct the coordination among ministries, sectors and localities in the prevention and control of AIDS, drug and prostitution, as well as programmes, plans and resources for the work, conduct international cooperation in the field and make periodical report to the PM on the results./.
