A senior delegation from the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) led by General Director Tran Mai Huong is on a working visit to China from Nov. 3-9 at the invitation of President of Xinhua News Agency Li Congjun.

On Nov. 4, VNA’s General Director Huong and Xinhua President Li held talks on measures to boost bilateral cooperation, especially in developing new types of communication in the future.

Xinhua President Li introduced the guests to his agency’s operation model and restructuring projects to meet information demands in the new situation.

VNA General Secretary Huong highly appreciated past cooperation between the two news agencies and expressed his wish that those relations would be strengthened, in order to contribute to boosting the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries in the spirit of agreements reached by two countries’ leaders.

The two sides agreed to organise photo exhibitions to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries in early 2010 in Hanoi and Beijing and agreed in principle the signing of new cooperation agreement between VNA and Xinhua as well as the expansion of cooperation between the two news agencies in multimedia along with traditional information fields.

The same day, the VNA leader was received by Deputy Director of the State Council Information Office Wang Guoqing, who hailed the results of talks between VNA and Xinhua. He affirmed the importance of the role of the two news agencies in the press systems on each side and their contribution to deepening comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier, the VNA delegation visited Xinhuanet centre, and some other centres in Xinhua. They also had working sessions in Shanghai and Hangzhou in Zhejiang province./.
