Vietnam is projected to be the fifth highest-growing economy in the world this year and the country has a unique opportunity to increase its footprint in the global economy in both trade and investment. Stefanie Stallmeister, World Bank Acting Country Director for Vietnam made the remarks during the unveiling of the WB’s report "What will be the new normal for Vietnam" on July 30.

As new cases of COVID-19 are being identified in a number of localities, primarily central Vietnam, the inroads made by the country’s tourism sector over the last few months via a domestic market stimulus programme are now at risk of stalling.

Located in the area adjacent to Da Nang City with a large number of people travelling through, Quang Nam province is taking the most drastic measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Vietnam recorded the first death relating to COVID-19 on July 31.

The Long Thanh International Airport project in southern Dong Nai province has been spoken of for years but site clearance and the building of resettlement areas have been continually delayed. With renewed determination and effort, these works have now been intensified, with the province committed to accomplishing tasks on schedule.
