Tin Tuc newspaper, a subsidiary of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), has presented 4,400 tins of nutritious powdered milk worth more than 1.35 billion VND (64,500 USD) to ethnic minority children in remote areas.

This activity formed part of a programme titled “Accompanying disadvantaged areas” launched by the newspaper and the Nam Duong Investment Joint Stock Company to mark International Children’s Day (June 1) and Vietnam’s Action Month for Children.

The meaningful gifts came to those in need in the five northern mountainous provinces of Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang and Lang Son.

Joining the programme, the Lai Chau provincial Department of Home Affairs presented 20 gifts, each worth 500,000 VND, to local poor students with outstanding academic achievements. Meanwhile, the provincial Department of Health provided free medical check-ups and medicine for over 500 disabled and parentless children.
