Vietnam News Agency (VNA) has gotten green light from the government to set up its own television channel.

The Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s new decision dated September 10 gave VNA permission to launch a project to create the channel by 2010.

VNA is responsible for working with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Planning and Investment to map out a financial plan to ensure the smooth running of the project, clearly outline costs, and identify funding sources.

Meanwhile, the two above-said ministries along with the Ministry of Information and Communications as well as Vietnam Television will take charge of coordinating with VNA to implement the project as scheduled, in line with current regulations./.
