Hanoi (VNA) – The Press Department of the Ministry of Information and Communications on March 15 decided to impose an administrative fine on the newswire VnExpress for publishing false information.
According to the decision signed by head of the department Luu Dinh Phuc, VnExpress on February 7 ran a story featuring a line-up of luxury cars attached with fake government license plates, which holds untrue contents.
The newswire violated Count a, Clause 3, Article 8 of the Government’s Decree No.159/2013/ND-CP, dated November 12, 2013, stipulating fines for administrative violations in press and publishing activities.
With such violation, it was fined 10 million VND (434 USD).
Earlier, VnExpress admitted its mistake, removed the article and published a correction right after the case was discovered.-VNA
