Vietnam’s largest integrated soybean processing plant was officially inaugurated in the Phu My 1 Industrial Zone in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on June 27.

Invested by Bunge Vietnam company, a subsidiary of the US’s Bunge Corporation, the 100 mln USD factory is capable of processing one million tonnes of soy beans per year, supplying around 200,000 tonnes of soybean oil for the Vietnamese market and exports to other Southeast Asian countries.

More importantly, the facility is able to churn out 800,000 tonnes of soy-meal per year, equivalently 30 percent of Vietnam’s total imports annually, which help meet the production demand of domestic feed manufacturers and reduce costs for importers.

Christopher White, Chief Executive Officer of Bunge for Asia said that the factory has thus far reached its full capacity since its first operation on May 8.

Since 2002, Bunge Vietnam has become the country’s top supplier of raw materials for feed production./.
