A film by director Vu Ngoc Dang will be the only Vietnamese film to be screened at the 36 th Toronto International Film Festival, slated for Sept. 8-18.

The movie “Hot boy noi loan va cau chuyen ve thang cuoi, co gai diem va con vit” (Rebellious hot boy and story of a smiling chap, a harlot and a duck) depicts the life and love of three gays, Khoa, Lam and Dong, and the story of a dumb smiling boy and a prostitute girl named Hanh.

The thorny theme of the film attracted the attention of the organisers of the Toronto Film Festival when it was introduced at the first Vietnam International Film Festival in Hanoi in October 2010.

The organisers have introduced the film with the title “Lost in Paradise” on the festival’s official website. However, the movie, expected to hit cinemas on October 14, has yet to get permission from the Vietnam Cinematography Department for joining the festival./.
