Moscow (VNA) – First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) Central Committee Le Quoc Phong met with President of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) Nicolas Papademetriou in Sochi, Russia, on October 16.

Phong said the Vietnamese delegation is participating in the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi in a responsible manner, which began on October 14 and lasts for nine days.
 
It prepared to discuss the 35 topics and engaged in other activities of the festival, which the HCYU considers as an important external activity and an occasion to connect with youth organisations around the world.

Papademetriou valued Vietnam’s engagement in the festival and expressed his hope that the country will host the event in the future.

WFDY President Papademetriou told Vietnam News Agency that Vietnam has the potential to hold a world festival of youth and students as it has continually received support from the WFDY.

Also on October 16, Vietnamese delegates joined their global peers in a ceremony honouring the values of Russia’s October Revolution and socialism.

Aside from panel discussions, the festival in Sochi also featured a technology exhibition and a show of traditional costumes and cultural identities of participating countries.-VNA
