They competed in 10 categories of weight for both men and women.
The Vietnamese martial artists had previously won a number of gold medals at various world championships and the recent Asian Indoor Games in Vietnam , while the French rivals used to win high places at the World Vovinam Championship in 2009.
The friendship tournament was part of a visit to France by a delegation of the Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism headed by Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Thai.
Earlier, the Vietnam Vovinam Federation representative had working sessions with representatives of the martial art from France, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Poland and Belarus to discuss the establishment of the Europe Vovinam Federation with provisional headquarters in France.
The Europe Vovinam Federation is expected to make its debut in September./.
