The 11 th Algeria National Vovinam Championships took place in the capital city of Algiers from June 29 to July 1, with the competition of 584 athletes from 22 cities and provinces of this North African country.
This event was jointly organised by the Algerian Martial Arts Federation and the National Committee of Vovinam (NCV) in Algeria.
Berzig Mohamed, President of the NCV in Algeria thanked the Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria for its contributions to the success of the event.
He said he hoped the Algerian team would achieve encouraging results in the upcoming tournament, scheduled to be held in Vietnam in the near future.
The first club of Vovinam in Algeria was founded in 2001 in the capital’s Hydra district, it then spread to 30 areas nationwide. At present, almost 7,000 members nationwide, including 200 females are practising this martial arts./.
