VTV international women’s volleyball cup to kick off

Vietnam national women’s volleyball team. (Source: mediacdn.vn)Hanoi (VNA) - The VTV International Women’s Volleyball Cup will run from August 4-11 at Ha Tinh Gymnasium in the central province of Ha Tinh.
The tournament features eight teams, including Altay of Kazakhstan, Yunnan of China, and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).
Vietnam’s national team are in Group A with Altay, Yunnan and Hokkaido University of Japan, while Vietnam U19 are in Group B with DPRK, Sichuan of China and National Chinese Taipei University.
The teams will play under a round-robin format to select the top four teams to progress to the semi-finals.
The cup is an annual event initiated by the Vietnam Volleyball Federation and Vietnam Television in 2004. This year’s event is sponsored by Vietnamese steel giant Hoa Sen Group.
The event is a warm-up for Vietnam in preparation for the Asian Games in Indonesia next month.-VNA
