Wall Street gains reverse Vietnam's slide

On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN-Index rose 0.33 percent to end the day trade at 498.55 points. The value of trades slumped to 1.16 trillion VND (61 million U SD ), however, on a total volume of 42.1 million shares.

Sugarcane producer Bourbon Tay Ninh (SBT) became the most-active share on the HCM City market on July 8, responsible for the trade of nearly 2 million shares, while Construction and Materials Trading Co (CNT) and Godaco Seafood Co (AGD) each soared to their ceiling prices.

Blue chips, meanwhile, performed far less impressively, with Saigon Securities Inc (SSI) posting a gain of 0.30 percent and VietinBank (CTG), up 0.39 percent.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index also ended a two-day downturn, finishing up 0.32 per cent higher than the previous day's close to 155.58 points.

Trading volume dropped 9.7 per cent from July 7’s total to 27.1 million shares, worth a combined 851.2 billion VND (44.8 million USD). PetroVietnam Construction (PVX) was the most-active share, with 2.6 million changing hands./.
