Twenty-one Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who lost their lives in Laos during wartime have been laid to rest in the Hue city cemetery for war heroes.

The reburial ceremony on May 16 was attended by officials from the Lao provinces of Salavan and Sekong, among others.

Colonel Tran Dinh Phong, head of the Thua Thien-Hue provincial military command, said the remains were found after the command’s search team had scoured through nearly 800 villages in Salavan and Sekong during the 2013-14 dry season.

The team will continue their operation in the two Lao provinces in the 2014-15 dry season, he said.

The Salavan and Sekong authorities praised the sacrifice of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts, saying they contributed greatly to consolidating the fraternal relations between the two countries.-VNA
