A wide range of activities have been held across the country to celebrate the 67th anniversary of Vietnam’s War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).

President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan on July 24 paid floral tribute to war heroes who are resting in peace at Hanoi’s Mai Dich cemetery.

On the occasion, a ceremony was held in the northern province of Vinh Phuc to honour Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. A similar event took place in the southern province of Dong Nai.

In the central city of Da Nang, municipal leaders visited and presented relief to over 50,000 social welfare beneficiary families, many of whom are having their houses upgraded or built.

Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union chapter in the northern province of Bac Ninh paid a visit to heavily wounded soldiers being treated at the Thuan Thanh nursing centre.

Recently, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung instructed the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the Fatherland Front to review the implementation of policies benefiting those who rendered services to the nation, especially war invalids and families of martyrs.-VNA
