Rung Nguoi Thuong (The Forest of Highlanders), a tome written originally in French by author-explorer Henri Maitre in the late 19 th century, is among 14 books on the Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) region uploaded to a new website.

All 14 available on www.sachhay.com are research works by foreign and Vietnamese writers who spent their lives loving and discovering the region.

They give readers a deep insight into the lives of the Tay Nguyen people and their history, religions, and culture.

Nguyen Ngoc, an author and Tay Nguyen researcher, said a group of 13 veteran cultural researchers and authors including himself were involved in putting up the works online.

The 372-page Rung Nguoi Thuong was translated from Les Jungles mois by Luu Dinh Tuan and published by the HCM City-based Tri Thuc Publishing House last year.

It includes useful information on Tay Nguyen’s history, images and maps, geographic characteristics and the traits of the highland tribes.

The Kho Tang Su Thi Tay Nguyen (The Collection of Tay Nguyen Epics) published by the Social Science Publishing House highlights the beauty of the local epics.

Tran Phong’s Le Hoi Tay Nguyen (Tay Nguyen Festivals) published by the The Gioi Publishing House has colourful photographs of the region’s religions and traditional festivals.

The website said it plans to add more books and do a makeover to become more attractive, especially to young users./.
